After two succeeding years of conducting the event within the confinements of a virtual setup due to COVID-19, the Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC) finally returned to Baguio City this 2022. This yearly event dedicated to the country’s mining industry is organized by the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and various organizations including the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers (PSME) and the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines.
This year’s theme, “Resilience. Reset. Recovery,” is both a mission and a triumphant cry that Engr. Louie Sarmiento, PMSEA President, expressed during the affair’s opening activity. Despite the harsh economic consequences of the pandemic on the mining industry, various sector stakeholders continued their commitment to keeping the trade alive.
Sta. Clara International Corporation took part in the four-day (November 15-18, 2022) event in support of the revival of a more robust and responsible Philippine mining industry. Various public and private groups and mining students from different schools all over the country also attended the affair housed at CAP John Hay Trade and Cultural Center with some activities conducted in the Baguio Country Club.
Besides the annual exhibit of mining organizations, entrepreneurs, companies, and LGUs; the 68th ANMSEC also conducted workshops and symposiums for the delegates. Furthermore, keeping up with tradition, ANSMEC also revived the Mining Sports Fest, Mining Night, Minerals Industry Parade, Mine Safety Field Demonstration and Field Competition, with the Annual Awards Night capping the event. PMSEA also extended its commitment to enhancing the PMSEA Park situated in the Baguio Botanical Garden through a memorandum of agreement with the local government of Baguio represented by Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong.
