As part and parcel of the development of the Philippine Marine Corps’ (PMC) new headquarters in Morong, Bataan in accordance with the AFP Modernization Program; Sta. Clara International Corporation (SCIC) leads the construction of the roads, utilities, and preparatory works package for Phase 1 of the Morong Discovery Park (MDP) Project under the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
The state-owned development corporation together with key representatives from SCIC, PMC, and E&R Builders Management Services officially broke ground last August 16, 2023, at the heart of the 100-hectare site situated within Morong Discovery Park (formerly known as Bataan Technology Park) with BCDA Chairman and Former Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana at its helm.
Marking the beginning of a more modern and advanced facility for the country’s marines, the momentous occasion was graced by Philippine Marine Corps Commandant MGen Arturo Rojas, BCDA President and CEO Engr. Joshua Bingcang, BCDA Director Rolen Paulino, SCIC Chairman Nicandro Linao, E&R Builders President and Founder Edgardo Rodriguez, Morong Mayor Cynthia Estanislao, Morong Vice Mayor Leila Munoz, BCDA Officer-In-Charge for the Office of the Senior Vice President for Conversion and Development Engr. Richard Cepe, BCDA Vice President for Engineering and Social Support Engr. Mark Torres and BCDA Vice President for Public Affairs Leilani Macasaet.
Strategic in location, with Morong directly facing the West Philippine Sea, the new home of the country’s Marine Forces will make operations and deployment more efficient, especially during times of national crisis – a vital aspect that Chairman Lorenzana pointed out during his brief speech. Furthermore, BCDA President and CEO Bingcang promised state-of-the-art training facilities, offices, and barracks once the project is completed – a top-notch model camp that will be at par with other countries’ armed forces bases across the world.
Sta. Clara’s scope for MDP Package 1 will include site development works and the construction of the entire road network within the park, along with several structures (guardhouses, watchtowers, & elevated water tanks), plus two sewage treatment plants, and other utility works – completing the three-package Phase 1 of the project which is expected to be finished by October 2024.
