Sta. Clara International’s history begins in 1976, upon the start of construction of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant. On its first year, the company, which Mr. Nicandro G. Linao named “Sta. Bagging more projects along the way, the company had built a reputation as one of the preferred industrial contractors in the Philippines.
One of the first featured project of SCIC came in 1991 when the company became the contractor for the Capayas Dam and Facilities project. Since then, SCIC has maintained a client-focused company with the technical know-how which has continued to gain the trust of its customers.
Starting with less than ten employees, SCIC now has more than 6,000 employees. The company expanded its operations overseas, specializing in Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), and is proud of having a growing pool of engineers suited to take on various large and complex projects around the country and overseas.
The list of projects has grown to include various S&R and Puregold warehouse / shopping facilities, Tipo Road, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and advanced manufacturing plants to 14 MW Sabangan Hydroelectric power plant, 100 MLD Marikina North Sewage Treatment Plant; Petron Refinary Master Plan - Package I & D; 54 MW San Lorenzo wind farm; 8 MW Cabulig hydro power plant; 70 MW Bakun AC hydroelectric power plant; and 54 MW Guimaras wind farm.

With this change, the company has ramped up the use of renewable design in the construction of hydroelectric power plants, wind farms and solar power plants.
In 2013, Mr. Linao earned the accolades of his colleagues and captured the prestigious Trailblazer Award from the Philippine Contractors’ Association. Mr. Linao said he attributes the success of SCIC to its hardworking employees. He added that the people of SCIC is the company’s best asset.
