A pivotal development in the progressive advancement of the province’s Agricultural Sector; the Local Government of Bohol alongside key officials of PRDP and Sta. Clara International Corporation (SCIC) officially broke ground last January 23, 2025, the largest Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) in history with an estimated project cost of Php 625 million, a loan grant from the World Bank.
Connecting the towns of Calape and Antequerra in the first district of Bohol, the rehabilitation and construction of the 12.656 km Desamparados-Tabuan farm-to-market road and four (4) bridges will be handled by SCIC as its general contractor under the supervision of I-BUILD through the Provincial Project Management and Implementation Unit (PPMIU) of PRDP.

A decade in the making, this momentous occasion held at the Ground Zero of the project site was graced by various stakeholders led by the Hon. Erico Aristotle Aumentado (Governor of Bohol), Hon. Julius Ceasar F. Hererra (Municipal Mayor of Calape), Hon. Jose Mario J. Pahang (Municipal Mayor of Antequerra), Dir. Angelita Dela Cueva-Martir (Deputy National Project Director for PRDP), Dir. Angel Enriquez (RED, Project Director for PRDP-RPCO 7), Mr. Miguel Carlos Linao (Deputy Managing Director of SCIC), and Congressman Edgar Chato represented by Atty. Abel Demalerio.
The project was formally introduced by Atty. John Titus Vistal, Head of the PPMIU-PRDP together with I-BUILD Component Head – Engr. Camilo Gasatan; stressing its novelty and value to the Boholanos and the entire agricultural supply chain of the country with it being the single largest project in the history of PRDP to date. Furthermore, Governor Aris underscored that this infrastructure will ease the transportation of goods and further develop agricultural areas with huge production potential made accessible to the community.

Since its conception in 2016, the PRDP has already produced billions of pesos worth of farm-to-market roads and livelihood projects for Filipino people. This infrastructure alone will primarily benefit hundreds of farmers and fisherfolks from several barangays in two municipalities along with thousands more since it will be connecting two national roads in the province.
A project of this significance, Mr. Miguel Carlos Linao – Deputy Managing Director of SCIC, expressed his gratitude to the Boholanos for this opportunity to bolster the economy of the region. From generating clean energy (with SCIC’s acquisition of Loboc Hydroelectric Power Plant) to the construction of vital infrastructures, Sta. Clara will continue its mission of renewing the energy throughout the nation.
