19 January 2016 – Philippine Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman Narciso T. Castañeda received in his office Mr. Arthur C. Bassig, Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, Sta. Clara International Corporation (SCIC), on January 14 to introduce the company and inform the Embassy that SCIC recently established an office, Sta. Clara Oman LLC, in Muscat.
Mr. Bassig was accompanied by Mr. Johan Abdullah, Board Advisor of Assas Oman, which is the local Omani partner (sponsor) of Sta. Clara Oman LLC, and Mr. Rey Acures, Business Development Manager, who will man the company’s office in Muscat.
Sta. Clara International Corporation is a full-service Filipino engineering and general contracting firm that caters to power, civil infrastructure, industrial, and telecommunications sectors and operates hydropower plants in the Philippines as well. It also operates in Qatar and Papua New Guinea and recently established its office in Muscat, Oman.
According to Mr. Bassig, SCIC hopes to gradually penetrate the Omani market through the office in Muscat. The company also hopes to bring in skilled Filipino workers to Oman and to gain a share in Oman’s construction and infrastructure sector. It also hopes to replicate its successful venture in Qatar which now has 150 Filipino employees.
Ambassador Castañeda welcomed the establishment of a Philippine company in Oman and expressed the hope that this will pave the way for more Philippine companies to look into various business prospects in Oman.
